Long Yongtu

An excellent speaker in English, and a leading expert on multilateral trade, economic and legal affairs.  Long Yongtu is Secretary-General, Boao Forum for Asia and Former Vice President, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), People’s Republic of China

As the Chief Negotiator for China’s resumption of GATT contracting party status and its accession to the World Trade Organization, Mr. Long dedicated over 10 years for this prolonged trade negotiation to bring China into the global trading system.

Apart from trade negotiations, Mr. Long was also in charge of the multilateral economic and trade affairs between China and the United Nations development agencies. He was fully involved in APEC affairs and attended the APEC meetings of trade ministers each year during the years from 1992 to 2001.

He frequently addresses high level seminars on economic and trade policies, such as the Global Panel in the Netherlands, the Awashima Forum in Japan and the Pacific Economic Forum as well as seminars held by the British Royal Institute, the United States Asia Society, the United States Asian Fund, OECD, the Asian Development Bank, the Harvard University, the Singapore National University and the Australian National University.
